hi love! i’m good, a bit busy with a few things i need to do by next week! the fics are coming along….not that great, tbh. but i’m trying my best to not give up on them!
hmmm. i don’t really have a specific fic planning technique? usually what i do is i have the general premise/prompt, write the first few paragraphs, and while writing usually a few interesting little details occur to me that i want to pursue then i go down that road. but i most definitely don’t plan the whole fic out in the beginning! (i think some writers do, but i don’t). i think we’re the same actually–i get a few, clear scenes and dialogue in my head when i get an idea for the fic, while everything else, like the set-up of it is all fuzzy.
i suggest what you do is you write down or note down all the scenes you have in mind, then sort of like, fill it in later. because chances are, while you’re writing, you’ll get an idea for the continuation of this scene, then to another, then to another, and as long as you know where you’re going, you’ll be able to find a seamless transition.
if not, and you end up having a different idea and changing the scene in your head entirely, then that’s okay too! outlines aren’t final–i’m still editing mine while simultaneously working on my fic, because most of the bullet points on there are like “idk??? shit happens??” which i then get an idea for and fill in later.
i think, tbh, a lot of writing is instinctive; once you’ve grasped the major thread in the fic, it’ll be easier to get into, and you’ll find that a lot of the scenes you write will lead to your other scenes, to your other scenes, to your other scenes, as long as you have a vague sense of where you’re going. :)
happy writing! if you need a second opinion or someone to look over your fic, i’m always happy to help! i love discussing fic with people. ❤️
