I Couldn’t Write a Poem Today Because (after Caitlin Conlon @cgcpoems )

I’m pretty sure it’s my turn to clean the bathroom / I woke up in someone else’s bed and they never said good morning / I’m too dehydrated to cry / I can’t decide what trauma to focus on / the boy found no flaws in me and still just doesn’t want me / I’m curious if she ever found my underwear in her closet / there’s no chocolate in my room / I forgot to take my antidepressants last night and the ones I took today haven’t kicked in yet / I texted him three times today and he hasn’t answered / I tried to watch Drew Monson videos and they didn’t even make me laugh / I’m not allowed to light candles / I can feel my goosebumps through my jeans and I want them to stop / I miss you so badly that I’ve contemplated making my lips bleed / he says through sacrifice he can love me / I don’t want to be a sacrifice / a burden / but I am / I’m not / I am / I’m not / I am.
