well, i wouldn’t say it’s not as messed up, there are some tropes in the 1d fandom that are hardly considered in other fandoms, and vice versa! for example, i have yet to see a body-switch trope in the 1d fandom, or a de-aging fic (like i mentioned)
a lot of plots, actually! people like the de-aging trope because babies are simple, in the sense that they either love you or they don’t. so when it comes to ships where there are a lot of complicated emotions? poof, turn someone into a baby, and a sincere reflection of how they feel will come out. off the top of my head, a plot for harry being turned into a baby is that harry and louis have a complicated relationship/are exes, and have mixed feelings about each other. in one of the 1d tours harry eats something from a fan and gets turned into a baby, which causes the entire tour to be cancelled. of course everyone freaks out, and baby harry cries and hates everyone on tour except (and you see where this is going) his ex louis. thus louis is stuck taking care of baby harry, who refuses the care of anyone else and just looks up to louis and adores him in the way babies do, and along the way there are some revelations that explain why baby harry loves louis that way (probably like. songs harry wrote that explicitly reference how much he actually still loves louis, etc.)
