I once went into work so sick (I had a fever and lost my voice) but it was my first day on the job and felt like I HAD to go in. My new boss told me I should have stayed home, and when he took me around to introduce me to my new coworkers, he had to tell them my name for me (no voice!) and explain why I couldn't shake their hands, and I could tell some people were mad at me for coming in. You made the right call! Your health is important, and not getting other people sick is just basic decency.
