boho rhap anon again- no i agree with you. i was stunned after watching the movie, best of 2018 i'd say. and then bc i like to ruin things for myself i looked at what the critics were saying and ofc nothing is ever good enough, but the main complaint was that it wasn't *gay* enough. but, like, MARY was the love of his life (lohl?) so ofc that was the prominent relationship. but i wish there was more of jim, bc he really helped freddie. also the movie messed up how they met but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

God, yeah, I felt that the critics for this movie were so unbearable???? I remember reading a comment saying that they didn’t deal with gender well at all in the movie, and citing the example of that time when freddie said he was bisexual and Mary said “no, you’re gay”. Plus it’s not gay enough???? I think they’re forgetting that this is a biopic about Freddie Mercury’s life??? He was a real, actual human being, with a real actual life—not just a character someone came up with. And they’re also forgetting that when Freddie was alive, our ideas of gender and sexuality were not as well-developed as they are now. So like, if they wanted certain things in the movie to change they’re gonna….need to go back in time to when Freddie Mercury was alive and change society and how Freddie was then so that the movie is based on something else?

But yeah, I agree with you when you say the movie really messed up how Jim and Freddie met…..and it would’ve been nice to see more of Jim.
