Baptism anon. Catholicism is a big part of my culture. I went to a very religious school. I was forced to take the first communion to stay in that school, even if I hated it. I wanted nothing to do with religion, but I was forced into it daily. I was even forced to confess my sins weekly from the age of 5 (what sins???). I wish I had had the choice to be baptized and not be part of a world I hated. Children need some guidance, but they are smarter than we believe. I wanted to be given options.

oh, i see! i totally get you, don’t worry about it! i went to an all-girls’ private catholic school for 13 years, so i totally know the feeling of being surrounded by all these religious imagery and practices and being like ???? but i don’t want to do it?????? although my school never forced us to take the first holy communion to stay, but you know, it was a big part of school life so a lot of us ended up taking it anyway.

i’m sorry you ended up feeling that way and that you didn’t have a choice :( i hope nowadays you’re living your life the way you want to 💓
